How to Clean an Electric Griddle

We have a few simple tricks up our sleeve against the charred grill grate. What do you need for this vinegar, ammonia or an onion?

As nice as grilling is, the inevitable cleaning up afterwards is less enjoyable. There are a few very simple tricks and home remedies that will remove leftover meat, burnt fat and dirt from the grill in no time at all:

1. The onion trick to clean Cusinart Griddler

Halved and skewered, the miracle tuber turns out to be a real grill grate cleaner. It is important that the grate is still hot. The crust can then be easily removed by rubbing vigorously. Useful side effect: the juice from the onion has a disinfecting effect.

2. A magic potion made from vinegar and sugar

Traces of dirt in the grill can also be tackled quite naturally with apple cider vinegar: heat the grill, mix 200 ml of apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of sugar, fill into a spray bottle and spray the encrusted areas. Let cool, wipe off, done.

3. A bath with ammonia removes the last residue of dirt

For tougher cases, it is best to place the grate in a large container with water and add a dash of ammonia solution. Leave on for about 30 minutes and then rub off with a brush. But be careful: too much pressure can damage the coating, especially on enameled surfaces.

4. Good old baking soda

The household remedy baking powder (or baking soda) is not only used for baking, removing stains or washing — you can even get the sticky grill grate clean with it. Place the cooking grate in a large container, sprinkle with baking soda and add enough water to completely cover the grate. The chemical reaction of the water and baking soda helps dissolve the fat, and the next day you can easily wipe off the dirt with a cloth.

This is How to clean an electric griddle: You should definitely grease the grid so that you can turn the meat and vegetables on the grill easily. The best way to do this is with a halved potato: simply prick it with a fork and rub it into the warm metal grid. The heat pulls the starch out of the potato and creates a kind of non-stick coating on the grid.
